Discussion was had about the nominations for OTSVA’s AVA Secretary/Treasurer, AVA President, and the NW Regional Director position.  Comments:  Curt Myron’s letter was inspiring.  Noreen will attend the OTSVA meeting and let them know our club’s thoughts.

Roster.  An updated roster will be ready soon.

 6.         Walk Updates:

20th Anniversary Celebration Walk:  Marlene and Bev attended a meeting at the College with all of the art instructors and they have decided they will be open just for our walk that Saturday and Sunday and there is going to be a special ceramics show.  The walk will now run through the gallery.  Featured during this time will be Soul Bugs, a very special ceramic show celebrating the completion and use of an anagama kiln.  The regular show runs May 1 through the 24th.  Bev sent around worker sign up sheets.  She also sent around a sheet to sign up for baking cupcakes.  One cake mix will give approximately 24 cupcakes.  Bev has the brochures ready and would like them taken to walks or other places or put on bulletin boards.

Gresham Arts Festival Walk.  This walk is the same day as the Arts Festival.  The art instructors will open the art gallery just for our walk.  Regina said that we cannot say the Arts Festival is doing anything for us because of liability on their part.  The walk will start at 9:00 instead of 8:00 because the artists set up between 8:00 and 8:45, and our walk will go right straight through the art festival.  We have a 5k and a 10k.  Jean had a sample brochure to show everyone.

Mt. Tabor Centennial Walk.  Janet said they will have the classic and old cars on the same day of our walk.  They will parade them up to the top.  Janet requested that donations be donated to either an electrical outlet thing that they need, or a water feature.  Janet asked about printing the brochures in color.  Regina said we cannot do color copies.  It is not cost effective.  Micheil-Ann will print a copy of the brochure to give to Regina for printing.

Happy Valley Hills and Hollows.  Claudia talked with Joe Kelly and Bob Forsythe about having a Rated 4-5 walk. Both Joe and Bob think people are looking forward to a more difficult walk. They said if Scouter’s Mountain were open to Volkwalkers, there would be a lot of people who would love to go up there since it’s unusual to be able to go there, so it would be special. A contact from Scouter's Mountain is still pending.

 7.         Featured YRE.  Cora talked about the East Portland Volkswalk that starts at the Adventist Hospital.  In the instructions, there’s a note on top that says “For walkers doing various challenges, qualifiers have been noted in the text of the instructions.”  Challenges not indicated in the text are OTSVA’s seasons, Oregon counties (Multnomah), Namesakes (Portland) and for AVA, Walk Europe USA (Portland, England).

 8.         Location Change of AVA Box in Gateway Fred Meyer.  Micheil-Ann received a telephone call from a manager at the Gateway Fred Meyer.  They want our AVA box out of the lobby.  Cora has been looking for another location.  She has talked with Winco and is waiting to hear back from them.  Winco would be a good place because they are open 24 hours.  Discussion was had and it was commented that a location next to Customer Service inside Winco would be the safest place for the box.

9          Snowcap.  The club donated 38 lbs. of food at the last meeting and Nancy received a receipt from Snowcap.  Bev asked Micheil-Ann to include a reminder about bringing food for Snowcap in our meeting reminder e-mail.  Regina said Nancy was honored as a volunteer of Snowcap in the Snowcap Newsletter this month.

Regina said Snowcap is in need of other items also.  A list includes:  brightly colored paper, brown paper grocery bags, cans of vegetables, jars of vegetables, fresh vegetables, frozen vegetables, and soaps of all kinds, both body and laundry soap; push brooms; 20#  white paper, hot cereals, blankets, sleeping bags, postage stamps, and dairy products.

 10.       Questions/Comments.

Regina asked Jim about our announcements in the Gresham Outlook.  The Gresham Outlook has not been giving us much support lately.  Jim said he has talked with them, but is going to go back in person.  Discussion was had about support from the Gresham Outlook.

Jean had some brochures from the Gresham Options Program.  They work with kids that are at risk for dropping out of high school.  The program works with kids and teachs them survival skills.  Jean has some brochures regarding a fundraiser this Saturday at Gresham Ford.  Go out and test drive a Ford, it is low pressure, they just want you to come out.  You have to be at least 18 years old and have a driver’s license.  10 – 6 p.m.  On the back of the brochure is a coupon for three oil changes for $29.95.

 11.       Springwater Trail Clean-Up.  March trail clean-up is Jim and Alice.

Regina will organize the club walk this month.  She has picked the walk from Safeway.  After discussion, it was decided the walk would be Sunday, March 29, at 3:00 p.m.  Meet at the Safeway off 182nd & Powell.

The door prize was donated by Noreen and was won by Dick.

The meeting adjourned 8:10 with everyone enjoying cake provided by Judy.
