EAST COUNTY WIND WALKERS
MINUTES OF APRIL 9, 2009
In attendance were: Janet Winner, Regina Blake, Alice Carroll, Jim Carroll, Dick Hawes, Nancy Hawes, Dave Saks, Phyllis Saks, Carol Culligan, Marilyn Barnhart, Marlene Looyens, Bev Russell, guest Karen ____________, Rebecca Shierman, Claudia Brooks, Jean Jensen, Cheryl Fabian, Paul Lewis, Cora Wegner, Noreen Kruse, and Micheil-Ann Gill.
1. Secretary’s Minutes. There are two corrections to the March Minutes: (i) the sentence under the Arts Walk, about opening the gallery for the walk, should be under the Anniversary Walk; and, (ii) “Soul Bugs” should be “Soul Buds” under the Anniversary Walk. A motion was made by Noreen that the minutes be accepted as corrected; Janet seconded the motion.
2. Treasurer’s Report. Claudia gave the Treasurer’s Report. Our bank balance is $1,100.16 as of April 9, 2009. Regina made a motion that the Treasurer’s Report be accepted as read; Jean seconded the motion.
3. Website Update. The website is finished and will be uploaded by this weekend.
4. Walk Updates.
20th Anniversary Celebration Bash Walk. Bev sent around a list for worker sign-ups. A workers walk is scheduled for Friday, April 17, 1.00 p.m., at the College by the flag pole and the fountain.
Gresham Arts Festival Walk. Jean said the brochures are done. Everything is ready.
Mt. Tabor Centennial Walk. Janet brought a poster that the Centennial Committee has created. The Pathfinder ad will be sent in right away.
Happy Valley Hills & Hollows Walk. Claudia said we have approval from the Scouts for a walk in Scouters Mountain. A ranger will meet with Claudia on Monday to do a walk-through.
5. Update on location of AVA box in Gateway Fred Meyer. Cora had asked Winco about putting the AVA box in their store and they declined. Cora talked in person with a manager at the Gateway Fred Meyer and he has indicated that what they want is the box moved out of the window. After discussion, the manager said the box can stay where it is for now. He will get in touch with Cora about a permanent location, but so far, she has not heard back from him.
6. AVA/OTSVA Report. Noreen said there was a good turnout for the Daffodil Walk. The last OTSVA meeting was after the St. Patrick’s Day walk and they had 260 people. At the OTSVA meeting, the people who are running for OTSVA President, Vice President and Northwest Regional Director made presentations at the meeting. They said anytime we have a special walk, we can get ten extra Pathfinders to hand out to people at the walks. We haven’t been receiving the Pathfinders for our events, so the Pathfinder will be called to find out how we get those ten Pathfinders for giving out. OTSVA has $17,895.00 on their balance sheet. Noreen passed around documents containing the year round challenges. Brett Lindstrom created a document containing the statistical information regarding how many walkers walked, how many walked for free, etc. Discussion was had about the candidates and the information that was provided by Curt Myron and Sam Korff. The next OTSVA meeting is May 9, 2009, in Milwaukie.
7. Letter of Support. Micheil-Ann said she signed the letter requested by Ric and sent it to Ric.
8. Questions/Comments.

· Dick asked why OTSVA has $17,000 balance that they have on hand. Dave asked why they have a $10,000 CD. Discussion was had.
