2011 Summer Tuesday Evening
Walking Series East County Wind Walkers (ECWW) is a member of the American Volkssporting Association (AVA). A Volkssport is an organized, non-competitive event (walk, bike, swim, cross-country ski, etc.) designed to appeal to all ages. Most walk events are usually 10 kilometers (6.2 miles), or 5 kilometers (3.1 miles) and are rated 1 to 5, with 5 being the most difficult. In summer 2011, ECWW wants to get people walking for the fun of it. We have scheduled a Tuesday evening Summer Walking series for 7 weeks starting on July 19, through just before Labor Day. Group walks will be a combination of 5K, and shorter “fun” walks. All walks will start @ 6:30 pm. Walks will take an average of 1-1.5 hours, depending on the walk, and walker’s abilities. East County Wind Walkers meet the second Thursday of the month, except December, at 6:45 pm at the Legacy Mount Hood Medical center, located at 24800 SE Stark in Gresham. Please join us for refreshments, fun and meet some new friends. Everyone is welcome. We host Year-Round Events (YREs) similar to those below, and traditional one-time walks such as the July 16 Gresham Art Walk and September 10 Estacada Mural walk.
