10K (Rated 1+) & 5K (Rated 1+) Volkswalks

Start Time: 11 AM – 1:30 PM

Finish by 5 PM

Trail Description: The 10K and 5K are rated 1+ because of the gradual hill.   Both walks take you down Main Street where the Art Walk and the Farmers Market will be in full swing.  Both walks will also go past the Art Plaza.  The 10K will go over the new Gresham/Fairview Trail Bridge and along the Springwater Trail.

Challenges Available: AVA:  Honoring Law Enforcement, Carnegie Libraries, Firehouses, Veterans Memorials and Historic Churches, Artistic Heritage, Museums, Walking the USA, A-Z Event.  WOC:  Courthouses -10k only, Seasons, Firehouses, Oregon Counties, Walk Oregon-Duck, Watering Holes, Waterways-10k only, Antique Shops, Auditoriums, Arenas-59k only, Festivals, Libraries, K-Klubs, Museums, Monuments, Mountains, Namesakes Walk, Murals; Longview Border Crossers:  Worldwide Bakeries & Libraries; Turn Around Trekkers: Worldwide Murals, COW-Oregon.                           

Credit Only Event: Non-credit walkers are welcome but must carry a start card and sign the insurance waiver. IVV/AVA fee $3.00. Donations are welcomed. “B” awards and hatpins are available. Any child 12 or under who completes a Volkswalk can choose his or her award!  This event is sanctioned by the American Volkssport Association (AVA), a member of the International Federation; of Popular Sports(IVV). This event counts toward acquisition of IVV Achievement Awards.

Driving Directions: Taking I-84 from the east or west, take exit #14 Fairview Parkway and following the signs to Halsey St./Gresham.  Take Fairview Parkway to Glisan St.  Turn left and get into the right lane and go to the next signal, which is 223rd St.  Turn right and follow 223rd St. to City Hall.  At Burnside, 223rd St. becomes Eastman Parkway.  City Hall is on the right shortly after crossing Burnside.

MAX: Gresham Transit Center  When you exit the Max train, go to street and turn left and proceed to City Hall to sign-in table.
